How is my data stored?
All your data stays private in your browser—never sent to a server, never shared, never snooped. Your chores are your business! We use your browser's built-in storage to keep everything local and secure.
Can I use Chorish offline?
Absolutely! As long as you've loaded the site once, you can use it even if your WiFi is taking a nap. Perfect for those moments when you're in the basement doing laundry and the signal's weak.
Do I need to sign up?
Nope! No sign-ups, no logins, no emails. Just open the site and start tracking chores. We believe in keeping things simple and private.
How do I reset all chores?
Head to the management page (if you're the home owner) and look for the reset button. Poof! Fresh start. Perfect for when you want to start a new week or month with a clean slate.
What if I lose my device?
Since everything is stored locally, losing your device means losing your chores. (Sorry! Maybe take a backup now and then?) We recommend taking a screenshot of your important tasks or using the export feature if available.
Can I use Chorish on my phone or tablet?
Yes! Chorish works great on any device with a modern web browser. Whether you're on your phone, tablet, or computer, you can manage chores from anywhere. The interface automatically adjusts to fit your screen size.
How do I install Chorish on my tablet?
Great question! You can add Chorish to your home screen for a true app-like experience (and one-tap access). On Safari for iPad, tap the 📤 Share button, then choose "Add to Home Screen". On Android, tap the three dots menu in Chrome and select "Add to Home screen". Now you can launch Chorish just like any other app—no downloads, no fuss, just chores (almost) made fun!
Is Chorish really free?
Yes, Chorish is completely free to use. There are no subscriptions, no sign-ups, and no ads.
What is Week view?
On your home dashboard, tap Week next to Board for a Monday–Sunday checklist of your shared chores. Tap a day to mark who did it, browse past weeks read-only, and flip back to Board anytime. Same home, calmer paper-chart layout.
What are Lists?
Lists are shared checklists that sit beside your everyday chores — packing, guests, a one-off tidy — on the right of both Board and Week. They are not another Week layout. Board and Week are the chores that keep the house running; Lists are separate checklists with optional due dates. Ticking a list item still records who helped, but it does not count toward Streaks or the Choreboard.
How do I set up a new home?
Tap Start a New Home and walk through a short wizard: name your place, choose Family or Housemates, pick modules (Certificates, Streaks, Games), optionally add starter chores, then add members. Nothing is saved as a live home until you finish. Prefer a backup? Use Import home on the first step.
How do I add my family or housemates?
During setup you can add people on the members step (you're already listed as owner). Later, if you're the home owner, head to Manage and click "Add Member." You can add up to 5 other people (6 total), give them fun names, and even pick their avatars.
What happens if I clear my browser cache?
Clearing your browser cache will reset Chorish to its starting state. All your chores, members, and settings will be cleared. If you're planning to clear your cache, make sure to take a backup of any important information first!
Can I get support?
Of course! Visit our Contact Us page and we'll do our best to help (and maybe tell you a joke). We usually respond within 2 business days, unless we're busy vacuuming.
Why do the add note, add chore, and edit note buttons disappear in fullscreen mode?
Great question! On iPad and mobile devices, when you go fullscreen, browsers (especially Safari) don't play nicely with typing into dialogs—they kick you out of fullscreen as soon as you try to type! To keep things smooth and avoid confusion, we hide the controls that require typing (like adding or editing notes and chores) while you're in fullscreen. Just exit fullscreen to add or edit, then jump back in when you're done. It's not us, it's the browsers!
